Airport Tycoon 2 Update 5 — Expansions Without Star Tokens
Room for More is a cash click now. The rebirth token tree is the long patch.
Update 5 is the patch players still feel even though the live listing now leads with Update 6 co-op. Older Roblox copy said: expansions no longer require Star Tokens, and the rebirth upgrade tree has been improved and expanded. Both lines remain true in current playthroughs.

What Star Tokens used to gate
Room for More is the badge for your first airport expansion. Before Update 5 that floor could ask for Star Tokens. After Update 5 the prompt is a cash confirm. That is why mid-game guides tell you to buy width when two scanners clip each other, not to farm a second currency first.
If a 2019 wiki still talks about token doors on islands, it is Fat Whale. This tycoon’s tokens now live in the rebirth shop (Ultimate Airport), not on expansion pads.
What to expand toward
Buy floor when:
- Two security lanes overlap
- Amenities sit in a closet instead of on the path from scan to gate
- You need a second gate (B1 / C1 in official art) and a plane that can fill it
Do not expand because the button sparkles. Empty marble does not print tickets. Pair the click with the amenity list and the destination list.
Parking-lot offers that want Robux showed up in early videos as optional. They are not Room for More. Update 5 did not turn every pad into a pass.
Rebirth tree, expanded
Update 5 grew the token tree you open in Misc → Rebirth upgrades after the first 150k reset. Playthroughs name faster passengers, faster you, more money, new planes, a cash head start, and quicker security. The first node was free in a completion run. Maxing the tree is Ultimate Airport (~0.1% of players).
VIP still lists exclusive content that videos treat as 2× tokens. That pass is on the game passes page, not a Star Token refund.
What Update 5 did not do
- It did not add World 2 snow. That is a later event listing.
- It did not invent live codes. Store can still be empty.
- It did not make co-op saves. That is Update 6.
- It did not publish a full named fleet. Planes still rank fill rate.
How to play the patch today
- Finish Snack Tax and Line Buster on the current footprint.
- Unlock Where To Next?
- Click Room for More with cash when the path is tight.
- Ignore leftover Star Token UI if a YouTuber’s HUD is from before the patch.
- Spend rebirth tokens on luck and rebuild speed, not statues. Use the rebirth planner.
Co-op pairs should agree who hits the expansion pad so you do not double-buy a wing.
If you are mid-walkthrough, treat Update 5 as the reason Room for More is no longer a scavenger hunt. Spend the cash you would have burned on Star Tokens on a second destination or a plane you can actually fill. Keep a screenshot of the expansion prompt the first time you see it after a patch, in case a YouTuber’s HUD still shows tokens.
World 2 will sit on top of this cash-expansion rule unless the listing says otherwise. Until snow is in the client, play Update 5 as the current floor plan.
